is the process of getting wheat flour. Flour of powdered material is called
milling. Wheat is the most common grain used in making flour, oats, corn,
barley and even rice. It is not just the grain that is used to make the flour,
because the amount of grain that is in the flour is ultimately stored in the
powder produced. Wheat grains, also known as kernels, are mainly composed of
endosperm. It is part of the grain food preservation, which is starchy in
nature and contains about 85% grains. However, there are a few more parts of
this grain. One of the outer layers is called bran. There is another outer
layer, which contains the embryos of plants. They are called oily germs. Oily
germs make up about 2% of grains and 13% of bran grains. When whole wheat flour
is needed all these parts of the kernel are turned into a fine powder. Although
in general, the white wheat flour that you see in stores is made by pulverizing
the endosperm of wheat grains.
