In light of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the United States and the Bangladesh government, the Bangladesh government is starting wheat import activities from the United States for the first time under the Government-to-Government (G2G) system. This information was given in a press release of the Food Ministry.
It said that a total of 440,000 metric tons of wheat will be imported under this agreement, the first shipment of which was a ship carrying 56,959 metric tons of wheat that arrived at the outer anchorage of Chittagong Port on October 25, 2025.
The Food Ministry also said that the process of testing the wheat samples on the ship has already started.
The press release said that necessary measures have been taken for the prompt unloading of the wheat after the wheat sample testing.
Out of the 56,959 metric tons of wheat, 34,170 metric tons will be unloaded in Chittagong, and the remaining 22,789 metric tons of wheat will be unloaded in Mongla Port.
