The government-owned Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) will appoint distributors in various upazilas of 36 districts of the country. The online application process for the same has started on December 16. It will continue till December 22. TCB has recently given this information in a notification.

It said that these distributors will be appointed with the aim of selling consumer goods purchased by TCB to designated beneficiary families and the general public at subsidized prices. The districts where distributors will be appointed are Satkhira, Narail, Chuadanga, Madaripur, Faridpur, Shariatpur, Gopalganj, Rajbari, Barisal, Bhola, Barguna, Jhalokati, Patuakhali, Pirojpur, Bogra, Sirajganj, Gaibandha, Naogaon, Joypurhat, Rajshahi, Pabna, Natore, Chapainawabganj, Rangpur, Nilphamari, Kurigram, Lalmonirhat, Dinajpur, Panchagarh, Thakurgaon, Sylhet, Habiganj, Sunamganj, Moulvibazar, Sherpur and Netrokona. The TCB notification said that these distributors will be appointed in the city corporations, wards, municipalities or unions in these 36 districts where there are currently no distributors. Currently, there are 8,275 distributors across the country.

Only online applications will be accepted to become a distributor. Applications can be submitted from 16 to 22 December 2025. Applications will not be accepted directly at the TCB office, by post or by courier.

An application fee of 5,000 taka (non-refundable) will have to be paid through Ek-Pay (app and web-based payment service). Detailed information regarding distributor recruitment can be found on the TCB website.

TCB provides food products at subsidized prices to low-income people across the country. As part of this, three types of products are currently sold to 6.3 million smart card-holding families every month as part of the organization's regular activities. A cardholder buyer can buy two liters of edible oil (soybean or safflower oil), two kg of lentils, and one kg of sugar at subsidized prices. Occasionally, two or more products are added to this.

The government has made new policies for the sale of TCB products. This policy, titled Distributor Recruitment and Management Policy 2025, was issued last March. Earlier, the policy of 2021 was followed.

As per the new policy, one distributor will be appointed for each ward of the municipality or city corporation area and one for each union in other areas (subject to vacancies). However, if the number of beneficiary families exceeds 1,500, there is also an option to appoint more than one distributor in a union.
