Myanmar aims to export 3 million tons of rice and broken rice in the 2026-2027 fiscal year (from April 2026 to March 2027), targeting export earnings of more than 1.17 billion U.S. dollars, according to the Myanmar Rice Federation on Sunday.

Myanmar exports rice and broken rice to more than 30 countries and regions through border and maritime routes, the federation said.

In the 2025-2026 fiscal year, the country exported over 2.74 million tons of rice and broken rice, earning 861 million dollars, according to the federation.

Rice is the core of Myanmar's agriculture and economy, using over 8 million hectares of land and producing roughly 25 million metric tons annually. Managed closely by the Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF), the country targets 3 million tons of rice and broken rice exports, supplying major buyers like Madagascar, China, and the Philippines.
