At the beginning of the current fiscal year, the country's various warehouses have stocks of rice and wheat of 17.64 lakh metric tons, which is about three lakh tons more than the same period of the last fiscal year.
Regarding the government stock, procurement, and distribution situation, the Ministry of Food said that on July 1 last year, the total stock of rice and wheat in the country was 14.73 lakh tons. Of this, rice stock was 10.60 lakh tons and wheat stock was 4.13 lakh tons.
At the beginning of the new fiscal year, rice stock increased to 15.41 lakh tons. And as the distribution of wheat collected from domestic sources and imported was more than the total collection, wheat stock decreased to 2.23 lakh metric tons.
