Using ‘Rice Transplanter cum Fertilizer Applicator’ technology, invented by Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI), can reduce planting costs by 20-25 percent and increase yields by 10-15 percent.
The information was revealed today at a workshop on ‘Validation and up-scaling of rice transplanting and harvesting technology in the selected sites of Bangladesh (VRTHB)’ at BRRI headquarters in the city, said a press release.
Financed by Krishi Gobeshona Foundation (KGF) and Bangladesh Krishi Gobeshona Andaumentrash (BKGET), the Farm Machinery and Post Harvest Technology (FMPHT) department of BRRI implemented the project.
BRRI Director General Dr Mohammad Khalequzzaman attended the workshop as the chief guest. In contrast, Bangladesh Krishi Gobeshona Council (BARC) Executive Chairman Dr Nazmun Nahar Karim attended the workshop as a special guest.
