GFMM desk: About 3000 farmers had participated in Galaxy Rice event in Gujranwala Punjab, Pakistan.
The event is organized by Corteva Agrisciences Pakistan with major theme to evaluate the possibility of diversifying cropping pattern in core basmati rice area where yield of wheat is low as compared to rest of Punjab mainly due to mono-cropping pattern (wheat-rice)since centuries, along with #sustainable #basmati #rice #pakistan Corteva Agrisciences, Rafhan Maize - Ingredion USA & Punjab Agriculture Department.
It was concluded in the event by experts that Maize-Rice cropping pattern has great potential to explore & prospectus to increase farm income as compared to wheat rice cropping pattern. It has potential to address major problems of wheat rice pattern viz diversification, sustainability, soil health, low yield of wheat crop after rice , impact of climate change . Overwhelming response from academia(UAF, IAGS Punjab University & FC College), industry, media, all leading agri business companies had observed first time in the history of Gujranwala Division.
